Grant County reported an additional 27 COVID-19 deaths in the county occurring from October to November in a Dec. 1 update, including one man from Grand Coulee in his 70s. 

The deaths include 16 unvaccinated people, 10 fully vaccinated, and one partially vaccinated person. 

Of the 27 who died, 24 had underlying medical conditions.

Grant County’s last announcement of covid deaths came on Oct. 13, but Grant County Health District Public Information Officer Misty Aguilar explained to The Star that the newly announced deaths could have occurred prior to that date. 

“We urge Grant County residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and the seasonal flu,” the Dec. 1 update from Grant County Health District reads. “Approved and authorized COVID-19 vaccines (initial doses and boosters) are safe and effective. Those who are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster dose, should do so as soon as possible. The purpose of a booster dose is to extend the protection of the COVID-19 vaccine and increase the body’s immune response.”

The county now has seen a total of 212 deaths since the pandemic began, including 141 men and 71 women, with 99 of the deaths occurring in 2020, and 113 in 2021. 

Of those who died, one person was in their 20s, seven were in their 30s, seven in their 40s, 25 in their 50s, 41 in their 60s, 57 in their 70s, 48 in their 80s, and 26 in their 90s. 

The Grand Coulee and Electric City area of the county has seen 164 total cases since the pandemic began. As of Dec. 7, up two since last week, with additional cases reported on Dec. 1 and 6. 

There are seven people hospitalized from covid, ranging in age from their 20s to 70s, down by two since last week. 

In Okanogan County, as of Dec. 7, Coulee Dam has seen a total of 103 cases, with no additional cases in the past week. Elmer City is up by two cases for a total of 42, and Nespelem is up by one case for a total of 138.

The county has seen a total of 77 covid deaths, including 36 men, 23 women, and 18 listed as unknown.

Three of the deaths occurred among those ages 20-39, five between 40 and 59, 38 from 60 to 79. A dozen were 80 and older, and 19 are listed as having an “unreleased” age.
