Grand Coulee Police

11/16 - A driver was pulled over on Second Street because his taillights weren’t working, and he didn’t have a license plate. He turned out to be wanted on a felony warrant out of Okanogan County for robbery. He was taken to Okanogan County Jail.

- Police placed a 24-hour tow notice on a motorhome at a Yakima Street residence where someone has lived for about two years, with the limit being 14 days. 

- Police looked around the Spring Canyon Apartments where someone reported hearing window screens being moved around. Police didn’t find anything amiss.

11/17 - A man is facing a charge of violating a no-contact court order with his ex-girlfriend by calling her cell phone and for calling multiple times the Mexican restaurant where she works.

- Police examined for possible vandalism a stop sign/street sign that was damaged, but determined the wooden post was old and simply fell apart.

11/18 - Police responded to near milepost 19 on SR-155 where a semi-truck was stuck. Assistance was needed to direct traffic, along with a Washington State Fish & Wildlife officer. Once the semi-truck driver put chains on the rig, he was able to get underway. 

11/19 - A man working on a Lakeview Avenue home reported it had been broken into and that he’d followed a set of footprints in the snow to Fourth Avenue, where a man familiar to police as walking frequently lived. Police explained it was unlikely he was the suspect and suggested the worker lock up his tools at night and install a camera. A $100 zip tool was reported missing. Police attempted to follow another set of footprints but lost the trail where the snow had been ploughed near the post office.

- Police responded to Pole Park where a man reportedly seemed to need medical attention. Police observed the man in his car making erratic head motions as if having a medical emergency. He turned out to just be jamming to music and was allowed to continue to do so. Police found out the jammer was wanted on a warrant for violating a no-contact court order. He was later found at the Electric City Bar and Grill where he was arrested by officers from Grand Coulee, Coulee Dam, and Lincoln County. The Lincoln County officer took the man to jail.

11/20 - Police responded to a parking lot above the Grand Coulee Dam where Security Reaction Force officers noted a vehicle with two people in it and guns visible inside while parked at night. Police noted that there are no signs saying vehicles aren’t allowed there at night and checked the guns serial numbers, finding no issues. The driver and passenger were cooperative with police and said they would drive home.

11/17 - A man reportedly high on drugs with a kitchen knife, was banging on the door of his mother’s motel room on Lincoln Avenue. She told police that she woke up with him staring at her, cussing, demanding car keys and $20 or he would beat her up. Grand Coulee Police officers assisted by locating the man near Columbia Avenue and SR-155. He was arrested by a Coulee Dam officer for harassment and could also face a theft charge, having allegedly used intimidation to get $20, which police took as evidence.

- Police gave an intoxicated man a ride to Safeway from the casino after casino staff said they wanted him off their property. Police saw that he had two hooded sweatshirts and two pairs of gloves with the tags still on. After dropping him off, the officer went to Harvest Foods, where staff said that “old drunk” had stolen the items. The officer turned around and saw the man was already back in Coulee Dam. The man didn’t have the items with him. He was arrested and the officer found the items on a bus stop bench near Safeway. The items were returned, and Harvest Foods elected not to press charges. He was given a ride to a bus stop in Moses Lake.

11/18 - Police collected security footage from the school where a girl had been hit about four times in the face and head by another girl outside the shop area. The father of the girl who was hit said he wants to press charges.
