Local scouts collected about 1,200 pounds of food for the local food bank this past week. 

"The food bank is now very well stocked," said Carol Nordine, manager of the Care and Share Food Bank.

Nordine said the collection was lower than normal. The drives usually bring in around 2,500  to 3,000 pound of food, Nordine said, but she also noted that there were two drives this year.

She also expressed gratitude for cash donations of about $120 that she said are being used to purchase meat from Harvest Foods.

Kim Stout, scoutmaster for Girls Troop 52, said that about 20 scouts participated between Girls Troop 52, Cub Pack 24, and Boy Scout Troop 24.

She also noted that Dale Henriksen is the scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 24, and Kristin Cannon is cubmaster for Cub Pack 24. 

"I think it went really, really well," she said, "especially since we have more scouts than we've had for a while. Everyone had shorter routes, and we covered more locations."

"It's always good to be able to give back," Stout continued, noting that several scouts rely on the food bank and the drive is important to the scouts as well as to the community.
