Police

2/9 - A man reported a “road rage” incident. While driving near the Eagles building, a black minivan with tinted windows began tailgating him. He gestured for the van to go around him. The driver of the minivan got out and pointed at him, then got back in the van and drove off. Police determined that no crime had been committed but took down the information.

- A purse turned into USBR plant protection was suspected as possibly containing drugs or paraphernalia. An officer found no evidence of drug residue within pieces of tinfoil within the purse. The purse was logged as found property.

- A Honda driver heading south on SR-155 near Pole Park was unable to see due to the setting sun and so came to a stop. She then continued driving and hit an Oldsmobile that had also come to a stop because of being unable to see. Enough damage was done to the back of the Oldsmobile, which was hit at an estimated 15-20 miles per hour, that it needed to be towed.

2/10 - Surveillance footage at the apartments on Continental Heights showed a woman taking a box containing a modem that was to be returned to Spectrum Communications. The footage shows her take the box from the hallway near the apartment office, then go to the laundry room. She then walks back and forth for half an hour. The woman also sweeps with a broom and dust pan. The manager told police she is not an employee and there is no reason she should be cleaning the common areas. She then takes the box out of the laundry room and presses the button for the elevator, although she doesn’t use the elevator. She then leaves the building. A police report was faxed to Spectrum so that the customer returning the modem would not be billed.

- Police responded to Dill Avenue where a child playing with the phone had called 911.

2/11 - A new home was found for a horse on E Street whose ribs were showing. It will now be kept at the rodeo grounds.

2/12 - A woman reported that someone had broken into a bus kept in the back of a Midway Avenue business. An alcoholic beverage and sunglasses had been left in the bus, as well as lab result paperwork. No damage had been done to the bus.

- Police responded to a report of a suspicious person at Jack’s 4-Corners gas station who may have put something up his nose. Police spoke to a man matching the description who told police he’d received a bad phone call and was waiting to learn if he needed to go somewhere else other than his original destination. He was playing on his phone unaware he was blocking a gas lane. The man moved his vehicle and police noted there were no issues with the situation.

2/14 - Police helped relay a message from a Las Vegas man to his brother who used to live in Grand Coulee but now lives in Coulee City. He had been worried about his brother’s health and had been unable to reach him for a couple of weeks.

- A man on Grand Avenue reported someone stole gas from his pickup. He showed an officer where the gas cap was hanging off and estimated about five gallons to be missing. He also showed an officer a photo of a man who had shown up on his doorstep on a previous day who seemed suspicious, a caucasian with neck tattoos and a cornrow hairdo.

2/15 - A woman was cited for driving too fast for conditions after her car slid on the snow on Wetzel Street and hit a parked truck.

2/8 - A Chevron gas station employee reported people trying to cash out “unactivated” scratch tickets. She kept the tickets and the people left. She was told to contact the state gaming department.

2/9 - A report of shots fired came in at just about the exact time an officer saw fireworks being lit off in the general area of the school.

2/13 - A man reported a dog circling people on Central Drive in a vicious manner. When police contacted the man, he said he had already spoken to the owners, who took the dog inside.

- A woman on Birch Street reported someone had scratched up her car sometime in the night or early morning. She wanted the incident documented. An officer told her he would patrol the area more often at night.

- A minivan hit the concrete barriers on the Douglas County side of the bridge. The impact caused the front right tire to break off completely and pushed one of the barriers onto the sidewalk. The driver was cited for driving too fast for the slick and snowy driving conditions, and the vehicle was towed.
