The outcome of the Ice Age Park levy vote in Electric City may determine if the park is built at all.

The Ice Age Park levy on the ballot for Electric City voters will, if passed, tell the city council to go forward with building the park, and will pay for the maintenance of the park for a year, after which park maintenance would simply be included in the city's budget in future years.

The one-year levy asks for 14.2 cents per $100,000 in property value, or $14.22 for a $100,000 property, $28.25 for a $200,000 valued property, and so on.

A flier from the city to the voters explaining the levy says that it cost about $5,000 to put the question on the ballot, and that park maintenance for a year would cost approximately $7,000-$10,000.

If the levy didn't pass, the city council would have to decide what to do about the unfinished park project.

Out of $60,425 spent on the park project so far, $28,234.31 came from a $257,650 grant from the Washington State Recreation & Conservation Office, with the rest coming from the city itself.

If the park project were stopped, the city would have to pay back that $28,234.31 in grant money.
