Grand Coulee

8/31 - A woman reported that another woman was camping in the yard of a neighbor on Electric Boulevard. Police told her no laws were being broken. The woman who was camping said she was waiting to inherit several houses in the area, and had been here about seven months, and that her attorney said he would contact her in the Grand Coulee Dam area. The officer advised her to get a new attorney.

9/1 - A woman complained about loud music on Electric Boulevard the past couple of days. Police told her to call back when the music was actually playing. She also complained about a woman camping in the yard of the same residence and questioned whether it was actually that resident’s property. Police told her they would have to hear from the property owner to investigate that.

- Police responded to a harassment complaint near Section Place and Spokane Way, where a man was also reported to have broken a stop sign. The man, while in the back of one officer’s patrol car, allegedly threatened another officer. The officer, familiar with the man from frequent encounters, noted in his report that the man’s behavior has been increasingly erratic and violent. The reporting party told police the suspect had threatened him when confronted about breaking the stop sign. He called police and filmed the suspect from inside his home. The recording showed the man talking to himself, pushing over a garbage can, having a “heated conversation with a sign,” and punching it. The man was arrested and taken to jail.

9/2 - Police responded to a report of smoke near Fifth Street and Sunny Drive, where there had been a recent structure fire. A small outbuilding had begun to reignite, and police stood by until firefighters arrived.

- Something suspicious was reported floating in the canal near E Street. An officer used binoculars and saw that the item was a seat cushion and told USBR Plant Protection about it.

- A man was reported to have been yelling profanities at a clerk at Coulee Playland. Police spoke to the man, who said the clerk had called him names. The clerk said the man simply entered the store and started yelling. The man was banned from Coulee Playland.

9/4 - A woman reported that suspicious people pulled in near the hospital staff parking area by the grain elevators. They had airsoft guns and were dressed to play with them. The area contained pre-staged barricades and forts. No crime was committed, and the officer let them be.

- A Safeway customer refused to wear a mask and refused to leave when asked. The customer was gone before police arrived a short time later.

9/5 - A report of a fight at the Crescent Bay boat launch turned out to be an argument between two parties over who would load their boat first. One party had left and the man at the boat launch said no fight actually occurred, just two intoxicated women who had wanted him to fight the man who’d been with them.

- Police helped a woman at Pole Park change a flat tire.

9/6 - Following a report of animal neglect on Burdin Boulevard, an officer found two husky-type dogs tangled up in each other’s chains, without any water, and with some food scattered on the ground. The dogs did not appear to be in distress. The owner was not home. The officer untangled them and provided them with food and water.

- Police responded to Jones Bay, where a man was said to be yelling at cars and rolling in the sagebrush. Police found a man conscious and breathing, but not communicating, and cold to the touch. He was taken to the hospital.
