Matilda Munson

Matilda Munson, 64, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 29, 2020, at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee, Washington. A proud member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, Matilda was born Saturday, July 30, 1955, in Omak, Washington to Alexander J. and Irene F. Gabriel-Antoine. A graduate of Curlew High School in Curlew, Washington and was formerly employed as an accountant with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Matilda enjoyed participating in tribal traditions, picking huckleberries, playing pool, playing bingo and visiting the casino. Her greatest joy though was always spending time with and taking care of her family.

Predeceased by her husband, Dennis Munson Sr. in 1992; and survived by her soulmate of 24 years: James Davis; Matilda's legacy lives on through her sons: Christopher Munson, Casey Munson and Dennis Munson Jr .; grandchildren: Makayla Munson, Jordanna Munson and Rhaesann Munson; siblings: Christine Antoine, Chester Antoine, Lucille Way, Linda Goodwin and Victor Antoine; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Matilda's dressing took place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee. Her wake began at 7 p.m. that evening at the Keller Community Center in Keller Washington. Her funeral service began at that location at 10 a.m., Friday morning, March 6, 2020. Burial followed at the San Poil/Hellsgate Cemetery in Keller.
