Police

6/28 - A man reportedly punched out the window of his girlfriend’s PT Cruiser during an argument in which she said she was breaking up with him because she wants him to stop smoking meth. The man was wanted on a felony warrant out of Seattle. About two blocks away, an officer contacted the man along SR-174. The man didn’t cooperate with police who told him he was under arrest, and he fled up a steep hill along the highway. Officers were unable to reach him. Officers from Grant County, the National Parks Service, as well as a K9 unit from Moses Lake came to assist, but were unable to locate him.

7/5 - A woman was arrested for vehicle prowling a van on Dill Avenue but released due to county jail restrictions on taking in females.

- Someone reported water shooting out of the top of the Grand Coulee Dam. It was just a sprinkler watering grass.

- A man was spotted loading firearms near the Visitor Arrival Center. He was unaware that there were restrictions on firearms on federal land. The man was very apologetic and was allowed to secure his firearms in his vehicle until he left.

7/6 - A woman left the hospital without being discharged and with an IV in her arm. She reportedly left with a man. Police were unable to locate her.

7/7 - Security at Sunbanks Lake Resort wanted a group of about eight male campers to leave because they were being loud after having been told and ticketed for it already. The men were eventually allowed to go to sleep since they were intoxicated and the officer wouldn’t let them drive.

- A woman on Ronald Drive said someone was violating a court order by contacting her with their soul, using her eyes as windows and robbing her of her thoughts and privacy. Spiritual setbacks were not outlined in the order, the officer said, and therefore no crime had been committed.

7/8 - The same woman entered a residence on Banks Avenue where there is a protection order against her. She said she wanted “rose water.” She was told to leave and police were notified. Crimes forwarded to the prosecutor include trespassing, violating the order, and burglary.

- A woman on Grand Avenue believed a woman was violating a court order by sending her a letter and that she should be arrested. However, the protection order was against the woman making the complaint and had expired in 2018. The letter she complained about expressed a desire to make amends. The officer explained no violation had occurred, and to contact the Grant County courthouse if she wanted to pursue another no-contact order.

7/9 - Two people were reported to be in the yard of a vacant residence. The officer found two people lying on a mattress in the yard. One said she used to live there, and had come to pick up some things. The officer told them to only be there with permission from the owner, and the two left.

- A toddler was reported near the roadway near the park along SR-174 in Grand Coulee. An officer spoke to the parents, who said the toddler ran towards the road at one point while playing in the park.

7/10 - A suspected felon was reportedly buying ammunition at the hardware store. Surveillance footage showed the man, known to police, buying the ammunition. He is convicted of multiple felonies. Police collected the footage as well as a receipt.

- A man camping at Sunbanks Lake Resort around the Fourth of July reported that his group met three people and allowed them to camp at their site. He suspects one of them took his debit card from his camper, purchased $67 worth of food from Hometown Pizza, then returned his card before he could notice it missing. He is trying to get the name of the person.

7/11 - A rattlesnake was reported at the Electric City Post Office. An officer located it near the outgoing mailbox and “disposed” of it.

7/12 - A woman reported leaving her iPhone XS, estimated at $1,000 value, either in a SunBanks Lake Resort bathroom or a golf cart outside. It wasn’t in either location when she checked. She tried the “Find My Phone” app, but determined the phone was either off or out of service.

7/13 - A man was reported lying down in the doorway at the senior center on Main Street. The man was gone upon police arrival.

7/14 - An officer ran the plates of a car parked at Coulee Gas and found it belonged to a man with a suspended license who was wanted on warrants. He was arrested and taken to Grant County Jail.

- A fawn with broken legs was “terminated” near the overlook just above Grand Coulee Dam .

7/15 - A man and woman were trespassed from the Trail West Motel for repeatedly arguing.

- An officer responded to a possible kidnapping on Grand Coulee Avenue with a report of a man stashing children in a storage locker while another man stood by as a possible lookout. An officer immediately went to the scene where the two men began laughing. The children were being hidden to surprise their grandmother who was on her way home. The children were fine.

- A man and his daughter were told they couldn’t camp in the parking lot below the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center. The man explained that his camper had broken down and asked to stay until daylight. USBR Plant Protection allowed them to do so.

7/1 - An officer responded to a report of a dead fawn at Columbia and Grant Avenues. Passersby in a pickup truck asked if they could help, and the officer asked if they could take the fawn up to the Washington Flats area past Columbia Avenue. They said no problem and did so.

7/11 - A driver was pulled over near Roosevelt Way and Columbia Avenue for speeding. An officer smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When asked about it, the driver said it was from his friend’s bong. The officer confiscated it because the driver was under the age of 21, the legal age for possession of marijuana. The officer also confiscated a tin grinder. The driver said he didn’t want to get in trouble for his friend’s stuff. He was given a speeding ticket.

7/12 - A mother and daughter were reportedly arguing about drugs near the Columbia River Inn. The daughter was given a ride by an officer to her home in Electric City.
