The Lady Raiders lost their first of two softball games Saturday, then won the second in a doubleheader against the Brewster Lady Bears.

Playing on a rainy, windy day in Grand Coulee, the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Raiders 15-11 in the first game, LR's first loss of the season.

"The first game, we saw six fielding errors to Brewster's one fielding error," explained Head Coach Jaci Gross. "We also had several mental errors, which is unlike our defense."

Emma Marchand went two for four with a double, a homerun and three runs batted in.

Ellie Hansen also went two for four, with a single, a double and two RBIs. Olivia Ludwig went one for four with a single and two RBIs. Scotti Adolph went one for two with a single and one RBI. "Cassidy Reyes started pitching and gave up four hits, but that was not a factor in the loss," Gross said. "She pitched a tremendous game. Emma Marchand finished the last three innings, giving up two hits."

The second game looked much different for LR, with the Lady Raiders winning 18-3 in a three-inning game.

"[Assistant coach] Jeremy Crollard and I switched up our batting lineup and started Emma Marchand at pitcher," Gross said. "This was the winning combination we needed to 15-run them in three innings."

Marchand gave up zero hits and led all batters, hitting three for three in the game, with two doubles and a single, and scoring six runners.

Maddie Toulou went two for three at bat with a double and a single. Mikaylah Thompson got her bat going, hitting one for three, with a double. And Scotti Adolph went one for one with two RBIs and two walks."

The Lady Raiders played in Pateros yesterday, results of which will be in next week's Star. They are scheduled to play in a doubleheader in Tonasket Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.

On April 23, they host Waterville/Mansfield at home in Grand Coulee at 4:30 p.m.
