Grand Coulee

5/14 - Police stopped a driver on Alcan Road when an officer saw a truck whose registration had expired in 2012. The driver, who claimed to have just purchased the truck, was cited for the registration problem and having no insurance.

- A woman living on Crest Avenue in Electric City reported to police that she thought someone had put sugar in her gas tank.

5/15 - Police saw a woman near the post office in Grand Coulee who tried to get out of sight when she saw the patrol car. She was identified as a woman wanted on a Department of Corrections felony warrant for her arrest. She was taken to Grant County jail.

- Police were called to West Grand Avenue in Electric City because of a downed stop sign and found out a woman had hit the sign with a trailer and failed to report it. She was cited for failing to sign, carry or show her registration, failing to renew her tabs and for operating a vehicle without insurance.


- An employee of NAPA Auto Parts drove by the store well after closing hour and saw a vehicle and some suspicious people trying the front door. Police found six people with the vehicle, none with a valid license, who were advised to leave the area after finding a licensed driver.

- A business owner advised police that someone had stolen the license plate off a motorhome that was being worked on. The plate was registered as stolen.

5/16 - Police posted a notice on an abandoned vehicle on Roosevelt Drive.

- A woman on Hill Avenue advised police that she was being harassed by people. She was advised to go to the courts to get protection.

5/17 - Police searched an area around a house on Roosevelt Drive after a woman reported that she saw someone with a flashlight in her yard. Police went into the alley and saw a man hiding in the darkness.

- Police responded to a report of a fight at Noble and Prim. By the time police arrived most of the people had left the area. One male explained to police what had transpired.

- A woman from Coulee Boulevard East in Electric City complained to police that people speed through the city and that she was nearly hit by three vehicles. She stated that police didn’t patrol the city, and the officer explained that they did.

- A woman stocking shelves in Safeway reported that three people had come up to her and made serious threats. She was able to give the names of two of the trio to police.

- Police tried to locate a vehicle that had been stolen from the Colville Reservation. The officer was unable to find it in the area.

5/18 - Two people were apprehended, one from the Columbia River and the second from brush along the river, after the vehicle they were in had been reported stolen by tribal police.

- A man on Electric Boulevard reported that someone had entered his unlocked motorhome and taken a flat-screen TV and a shotgun.

- An officer went to Coulee Medical Center to assist a tribal officer whose suspect was giving hospital staff a difficult time as they tried to remove feces from a patient. The man was eventually tased so officers could get handcuffs on him and place him in the tribal patrol car.

5/19 - Police checked on a report that a woman was seen walking on SR-155 beating herself in the head. She was gone when the officer arrived.

- An Electric City resident reported a man who had knocked on the door to ask about his TV service. He thought it was strange since there was no company vehicle nearby.

5/20 - A man was pulled over on Spokane Way and cited for an outdated registration and for not having a driver’s license on his person.

- In an effort to assist Grant County officials, an officer checked on a report of a suspicious person on Cardinal Road. The person was not located.

- A Coulee Dam woman known to have a suspended license was seen driving near the rodeo grounds and cited. A licensed driver took charge of the vehicle.

5/20 - Safeway personnel told police that a Grand Coulee couple who had been banned from the store for stealing kept coming in. The store was asking for law enforcement help in keeping the couple from the property.

5/20 - A Hill Avenue man was causing a disturbance after being locked out by his wife because of his drinking. The officer offered to talk with his wife, but the man said he would go someplace else to sleep.

5/21 - A Coulee Dam man known to be wanted on several warrants for his arrest was seen near the top of the dam. When police told him he was under arrest, he ran. The officer chased on foot and eventually returned to his patrol car and pursued. After a chase back and forth, the man finally got on the ground. He was taken to Grant County jail on the warrants with the additional charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

5/15 - An officer responded to an assault call on Central Drive, and since it was a tribal trust property, tribal police were called.

5/17 - A suspicious person report on Central Drive was unfounded.

- An officer responded to a fight between a 7-year-old and another child. The one starting the fight was caught on camera, and it showed that he continued fighting even when adults showed up.

- A driver with a suspended license was stopped near Columbia Avenue and Grant Avenue.

5/19 - Police checked on a 911 hangup call on Tilmus. The officer learned that it was accidental.

- A woman was stopped on SR-155 because the tabs on her vehicle had expired. She was cited on the tab problem and for not having insurance.

5/20 - Police checked on a report of stray animals on Birch Street.
