The Raider baseball team spent a lot of time on the road this past week, going to Waterville and Okanogan where they lost, and to Soap Lake, where they won both games of a doubleheader.

The Raiders lost to the Shockers in Waterville April 24 by just one run in the seventh inning.

"Tony Nichols went 5-5 [at the plate]," Head Coach Billy Nicholson said. "Nick Baker hit a two-run homer over the fence. Hunter [Whitelaw] did a great job pitching over the first six innings, but ran into the pitch count limit."

Against Okanogan on April 26, the Raiders didn't fare so well, losing 21-0.

"Okanogan came out hitting," Nicholson said. "They played well. We reached base with walks and Tyson Nicholson had our lone hit."

Things went the Raiders' way in Soap Lake on April 28, winning both games of a doubleheader, 25-2 in the first game and 9-4 in the second.

"We played well against Soap Lake," Nicholson said. "Our offense used some extra outs to score against Soap Lake. Tony Nichols did a great job getting on base as our lead-off hitter. Our pitchers had to overcome mistakes, but they did a good job pounding the strike zone. Hunter Whitelaw pitched well over five innings in game two, including 10K."

The Raiders played Waterville at home yesterday, results of which will be reported in next week's Star.

The Raiders have a 7-8 win-loss record in the Central Washington 2B league, 8-10 overall. LR is ranked sixth in the league out of 10 teams, so a post season appears to be out of the picture, as only the top four teams progress.
