The Raider cross country team ran in a massive race on Saturday in Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee, where the boys' race fielded 170 runners and the girls' race 115.

Coach Brian Daniels said the number of runners likely had an effect on the race. "It was a pretty good mass of people at the start of the race especially," he said. "It was a very large meet with some large teams."

Saturday gave the Raiders a good day for running with warm weather and clear skies. "It was at a really long park right along the (Columbia) river," Daniels said. "It was two really long, skinny laps that they had to do that started and finished with a hill, but was pretty flat besides that."

Seven Raiders ran in the boys' race, and four ran in the girls' race.

"It went pretty well," Daniels said. "Runners ran pretty consistent with how they've been running."

"Kayla St. Pierre really stood out," Daniels said. "She ran her best race yet. She shaved close to two minutes off of her previous race time."

St. Pierre finished 39th out of 115 runners, with a final time of 21 minutes, 53 seconds.

Adam George was the top Raider runner for the boys, finishing 86th out of 170 runners, with a final time of 18:33.

The Raiders head to the Tonasket Invitational on Thursday, with girls' varsity scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
