The Lady Raiders will compete in the regional tournament after having defeated the Tonasket Tigers last Saturday to take third place in District 6.

Following a 13-2 loss at home to Liberty Bell on May 9, the Lady Raiders softball team hosted Tonasket in Grand Coulee May 13, beating the Lady Tigers 15-5 in five innings.

Tonasket scored five runs in the first inning when the Lady Raiders didn't score. The second inning went much better for LR, who held Tonasket to three batters before scoring eight runs of their own, going through their entire lineup in the process.

"Olivia Ludwig hit a triple to score three runs; Roxanne Belgarde also hit a triple to score three runs," said Head Coach Alissa Mansker. "It was an excellent game at bat all around for LR."

Defensively, Mansker said, LR was able to hold Tonasket to 3-5 batters each inning after the first.

"Kourtney Harrington had an excellent diving catch for the third out from the pitching mound," Mansker noted. "There was also an excellent double play trying to run home where Kayla St. Pierre was able to tag the runner sliding home."

The District 6 number-three seed Lady Raiders will play Kittitas, the number-two seed from District 5, in Ephrata on Saturday, May 20, starting at noon.
