The Lake Roosevelt Raider baseball team defeated the Pateros Billygoats last week, before losing the first game and winning the second in a doubleheader against the Brewster Bears.

Playing Pateros in a non-league home game on April 11, the Raiders came away with a 4-0 win.

"Our pitchers all did well," said Head Coach Billy Nicholson. "We scored enough runs but need to string more hits together."

Hosting Brewster on Friday, the first game ran away from the Raiders, who lost 16-2.

"Our pitchers threw a lot of strikes, but we made too many errors," Nicholson said.

The Raider highlight of the first game came when Kolby Picard hit a one-run home run.

Things went better for the Raider boys in the second game against Brewster. With two runs in the first inning, and two in the second, it was enough, along with solid defense, for the Raiders to win with a final score of 4-1.

Tyrell Kiser pitched nine strikeouts in the game.

"Tyrell did a great job moving the ball all game against Brewster," Nicholson said. "Our defense made plays behind him all game. We cut off a run at home. Darian Lindsey caught a hard line drive in the seventh to save a run. I'm proud of the boys."

The Raiders are fourth in their league with a 6-5 league win-loss record, 7-5 overall, with two of the losses the result of a shorthanded doubleheader forfeited earlier in the season.

The Raiders played in Pateros yesterday in a non-league game against the Billygoats, results of which will be in next week's Star.

Next on the schedule, the Raiders will face off against the Tonasket Tigers in a doubleheader on Saturday in Tonasket, with the first game slated for 11 a.m.

The next home game is on Tuesday, April 25, when the Raiders will host the Waterville Shockers at 4:30 p.m. in Coulee Dam.
