The Lady Raiders pulled off a few more victories in the past week, finishing the regular season at 12-4 and third place in the Central Washington 2B league, then securing a second and third playoff game with a win against Waterville last night in Coulee Dam.

The Lady Raiders played a playoff game at home last night against Waterville, who finished their season 5-11. At the end of four quarters, the Lady Raiders had defeated the Lady Shockers 50-42.

LR trailed by three points at the end of the first quarter, and led by three by the end of the first half. The third quarter saw Waterville take the lead, but LR took it back. Leading 31-30 at the start of the fourth, the Raiders started to pull away, winning by eight points.

"I just talked to the girls about staying calm and staying focused," Head Coach Wallace Pleasants said about coming back to win. "This is the type of game that we've been talking about all season, where everybody steps in. I want to make sure our girls take away the toughness they showed this game, the hard-nosed defense."

The ladies traveled to Waterville last Thursday where they defeated the Lady Shockers 46-38.

Leading by 14 points at the half, LR gave up the lead in the third quarter and trailed Waterville for 4 minutes into the fourth when the Lady Raiders "finally found their rhythm," as Pleasants put it.

On Saturday, in Soap Lake, the Lady Raiders showed no mercy, plucking the Lady Eagles by winning 55-18.

"From the opening tip, everything went our way, right from the get go," Pleasants said. "Every play we ran, it worked. It gave us the opportunity to work on some things we'll use later on."

Last night's win means the Ladies will play the 14-2 number-two seed Tonasket Lady Tigers in the second round of league playoffs at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in Tonasket. The winners and losers of the second-round games both move on to the third round to compete on Saturday, Feb. 11, in Bridgeport, with the winner of round two playing at 5 p.m. and the loser at 1:30.
