The Lady Raiders basketball team defeated the Oroville Lady Hornets on the Hornets’ home court 64-46 Saturday in the 2016-17 season opener.

“We got out to an outstanding start with our defense, which allowed us to get into some of the things we have been working on,” said Head Coach Wallace Pleasants.

All 10 players on the varsity squad were able to log in some minutes on the court.

“We were able to get a look at some new players in different situations,” Pleasants said. “The only way we are going to get better is by playing the girls, letting them get the experience they need to help as the season moves along.”

Mariah Boyd led the scoring for the Lady Raiders with 17 points.

The Lady Raiders played their first home game last night against the Brewster Lady Bears losing 44-60.

The girls will travel to Liberty Bell on Thursday to face off against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions. They’ll face Soap Lake in Coulee Dam on Saturday, Dec. 10, starting at 1 p.m in the Raider’s gym in Coulee Dam.
