The Raider boys’ basketball season came to a close Saturday with a big loss in the regional round against Morton-White Pass in Chehalis.

This is the third straight year that the Raiders have made it to the regional round on the way to the state tournament and lost. Morton-White Pass is the number-two team in the 2B classification in the state, behind Brewster.

The Raiders were in the game at the end of the first quarter. In the second, though, the Timberwolves pulled ahead to a 20-point lead going into halftime. In the third quarter, Morton-White Pass exploded on offense, scoring 32 points to the Raiders’ seven.

At the start of the fourth, there was a running clock. Lake Roosevelt came back and won the fourth quarter, but they were too far behind. The final score was Timberwolves 84, Raiders 45.

LR turned the ball over 27 times, which led to 25 points for M-WP. Jacob Palmer led the Raiders with 18 points.

For Chance Garvin, Jacob Palmer, and Taren Redstar, it was the final game of their Raider careers.

Now, the Raiders will have to look to the underclassmen to step up and become full-time varsity players. For those underclassmen, these are big shoes to fill, as all three have been solid performers and leaders for the Raiders during their careers.
