Raider Boys Basketball ended the regular season with two losses last week.

The first loss Feb. 2 came at home against the number-one Brewster Bears, the next on Feb. 4 in an upset loss to the struggling Okanogan Bulldogs in Okanogan.

At home against the Bears for Senior Night, the Raiders were out of sync to start the game.

“We had a tough night trying to get our offense started,” Head Coach Mario Adams said. “We were not ourselves this night, which is unfortunate playing against a top team as Brewster.”

The Bears jumped out early and stayed ahead for the game, and there was little the Raiders could do to change it. Brewster won 70-44.

“Even though it was a tough loss,” Adams said, “we are still having a great season. We will get back to work to make a deep run into districts this year and use this as a learning lesson.”

Looking to rebound after the loss against a struggling Okanogan team on Thursday in Okanogan, the Raiders jumped out to an early lead, but the Bulldogs came back. The game became a seesaw affair, with neither side holding on to a lead.

Then in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs pulled ahead by six points off two three-pointers. LR came back to tie the game at 52, but with 13 seconds left Clay Ashworth made a jump shot that put Okanogan ahead 54-52. LR could not score and the Bulldogs came away with the upset win.

With the two losses, the Raiders’ overall win-loss record dropped to 12-7 overall, 10-4 in the Central Washington 2B North League.

Oroville lost to Brewster on Feb. 5, which means the Raiders are still the number-two seed from the North for the District 5/6 2B Basketball Tournament.

The Raiders will travel to Wenatchee High School tonight (Feb. 10) for a 3:15 p.m. game against the Kittitas Coyotes, who are the number-three team from the South. The game was originally scheduled for Eastmont Junior High, but due to a conflict with the gym use, the games were moved to Wenatchee High School. LR will then play on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 4:30 p.m. If the Raiders defeat Kittitas, the game on Saturday will be at Eastmont High School. If Kittitas wins, LR will play at Eastmont Junior High.
