A Grand Coulee man is in jail today after a raid Friday in Grand Coulee.

Melvin E. Toulou, Jr., 42, is in the Grant County Jail for investigation of possession stolen property. A task force led by the Grant County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) and the U.S. Secret Service served a search warrant on Toulou’s home at 308 Burdin Boulevard in Grand Coulee and also at a home at 58220 Spokane Boulevard near Grand Coulee.

Along with illegal drugs, officers found thousands of dollars worth of property believed to have been stolen during a recent Grand Coulee home burglary. They also found and seized evidence related to counterfeiting.

The raids stemmed from comprehensive investigation during which detectives made several controlled buys of methamphetamine and counterfeit U.S. currency.

The investigation continues and additional arrests and charges are pending. A second suspect has not yet been arrested. Because that person has not yet been arrested or charged, their identity won’t be disclosed until they are.

The Moses Lake Tactical Response Team, U.S. Marshals, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Kittitas Police Department and Grand Coulee Police Department assisted INET and the Secret Service with the operation.

“This was a drug and counterfeiting operation which had many moving parts requiring the cooperation and expertise of several local and federal agencies,” said Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones. “I’m very proud of all the officers involved for their diligence and teamwork.”
