Dorothy Elaine Flowers-Lawrence passed away surrounded by close family and love on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Bishop Place in Pullman, WA.

Dorothy was born on June 13, 1943 in Mason City, Washington to Jack and Edna (Shaffer) Flowers. Dorothy graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1961. Dorothy started working for Pacific Northwest Bell in 1961. She retired from the phone company after 33 years of service. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, James Canterbury on June 1, 1963. After eleven years of marriage they divorced.

Dorothy married the love of her life, her "dream guy" James Lawrence on September 12, 1993. Dorothy and Jim lived in Oregon City, Oregon for over 30 years. Her beloved Jim passed away on April 1, 2014.

Dorothy had wonderful memories of growing up in the Grand Coulee area. She spoke fondly of her childhood from her mother's cooking and the times she spent at the Shaffer Ranch. Dorothy decorated a room in her home that she referred to as "The Shaffer Room." Carlie, Paige and Payton enjoyed staying in "The Shaffer Room."

Dorothy loved the Portland Area. She spent her time with her beloved Jim and her many friends. Dorothy's love, humor, gentle spirit and giving nature will be remembered and greatly missed. Dorothy loved America and enjoyed sending care packages to her nephew when he worked overseas. Dorothy was a "Nordstrom's girl" who loved to take her friends and family shopping.

After Jim passed away Dorothy moved to Pullman, Washington to live closer to family.

Dorothy leaves behind her beloved German Sheppard, "Flower". Her nephews whom she referred to as, "my boys" John (Collette) Dice of Pullman, WA and Dan (Nicole) Dice of Newport, WA, and her great nieces and nephews whom she referred to as "her kids" Dalton, Walker and Payton of Pullman, WA, Carlie and Paige Dice of Newport, WA. Her step-daughter Kelly (Thomas) Steigleder of Happy Valley, OR, her step-grandchildren Kate and Cooper Steigleder of Happy Valley, OR, her fabulous friends Debbie, Scott, Morgan and Hailey Holas, Connie Gillespie, Sue Salazar and Nola Anderson of Portland, OR. Her loving cousin Patricia Skinner of Durham, NC, Her sisters: June Alvey of Pueblo, CO, Jackie Hildenbrand of Reno, NV, Joyce Rhone of Vacaville, CA, and Faye (Gaylen) Dice of Grand Coulee, WA. One brother John (Penny) Flowers of Grand Coulee, WA, along with numerous nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandparents Emmett and Ida Shaffer.
