Norman S. "Norm" Olsen 51, passed away from his Coulee Dam, Washington home Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2014, following a courageous 12-year battle with illness. Norm was born on April 20, 1963, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and received his diploma from Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam, Washington. Employed by the Melody Restaurant for 10 years, Norm was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing food for his fortunate friends and family. Norm enjoyed his '67 Chevy short-bed pickup, was extremely organized (some close friends might even say he was "obsessive" about organization), an avid fan of scary movies and conversely was man who loved and treated all animals as his closest friends. Norm's friends and family knew his greatest passion was his music, accomplished on drums, guitar and keyboard, Norm loved jam'n throughout Central and Eastern Washington with his rock/metal band, "Loadbreak". When not performing himself, his favorite bands to listen to were "Lacuna Coil" - the Italian Gothic metal band from Milan, Italy and the American rock band - "Heart".

Pre-deceased by his grandmother: Lydia Hergert; Norm will be greatly missed by his mother Jean Olsen; brothers: Jeffrey Olsen and Gary Olsen and his many – many friends. Norm put others first – "Always", his last concern was himself.

At Norm's request, cremation has taken place with a celebration of his life to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of gifts, Norman's family requests that donations be made to help defray his final expenses or to PETA.

Please sign Norm's online register book at http://www.stratefuneralhome.com. Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, Washington is honored to be serving Norm's family.
