Humbled by support

Letters to the Editor

I was both honored and humbled by the overwhelming support I received in the Coulee Dam primary election. Thank you all for taking the time to vote… and for thinking of me in the process!

I believe that your support anticipates (maybe demands) meaningful change AND I can promise you a difference. If I’m elected this fall, my first acts and efforts will be to remove the obstacles blocking change … you will notice almost immediately a shift toward a more open, flexible, and service-oriented organization. You will be encouraged to attend (and participate in) our (your) town council and committee meetings and clearly, the town’s consultant(s) and administrative staff will be held to a new standard of service and performance.

Between now and the General Election I will be writing letters to the editor defining a platform and drawing attention to the issues — and I encourage Mayor Snow to do the same. I will be seeking your thoughts and ideas in the process.

I believe that the town has been governed and managed by elected and appointed officials out of step with, and unaware of, the emerging crowd. And, in the end, nothing will please me more than to eventually be replaced by one of you … young in mind and spirit with your own ideas about what you want our (your) community to be or become. I want to pave the way to a reinvention and make the changes, and define the policies that will encourage and inform the change process. I am a person that will lead by a strong example, accomplish by tireless action, and achieve by an involved consensus. I am also a person that wants you to help outline our direction. I look forward to the interaction and the results of it.

Again … thank you!

Greg Wilder
