Milan P. Lawrence died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee. He was born in Port Said (Cairo) Egypt in 1927. In the early 50s he obtained a student visa and moved to San Diego, Calif., where he later received a degree in political science from san Diego State University. He worked with title and insurance companies in the housing markets as an underwriter, analyst, bookkeeper and accountant.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene, Mukilteo, then to Electric City, Washington.

In 1960 Milan became a citizen of the United States of America. “Books are my life,” he often said and he was an avid reader. Aviation and airplanes were also important to him and his pilot’s license enabled him to enjoy the freedom of flight. While in southern California, he spent much time in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and once hiked to the top of Mt. Whitney with his son. In his later years he resided at the Colville Tribal Convalescent Center in Nespelem.

His survivors include a son Peter, of San Jose, Calif., and daughter Jenny, of Fairfield, Iowa and family in France.

A remembrance luncheon will be served at the Seaton’s Grove home of Jim and Alice Frost, Thursday, May 23, at 11:30 a.m. Friends are invited to attend.
