The Lake Roosevelt Cross Country runners participated in the Tonasket Invitational last Wednesday. "Tonasket is one of the last of the old, very hilly courses developed back when district and state courses were very hilly," explained Head Coach Gary Darnold. The Lake Roosevelt Raiders defeated the Brewster Bears 36-14 in Coulee Dam Friday to go 4-0 for the season and leading the league, the first time LR has had this good of a record since anyone can remember. There was never a dull moment on the field Friday night. Touchdowns were followed by interceptions which were followed by interceptions, followed by injuries. The Lady Raiders volleyball team lost in the tie-breaking fifth set Sept. 20 against Okanogan. "My girls started off the game really hot," Head Coach Kasey Garvin said. Lake Roosevelt cross country runners attended the Okanogan Invitational last Wednesday. The runners are already showing an improvement since last week. Out of 59 total runners, Raiders finished mostly in the middle time range. Kyle Edmo finished 19th with a time of 19 minutes, 2 seconds. The Lady Raiders soccer team played the Bridgeport Fillies on the Lake Roosevelt home field in Grand Coulee Sept. 20, leading most of the game but losing the lead in the final minute - and the game in overtime. Lake Roosevelt's volleyball team last week rallied against Waterville and swept Oroville to bring their win-loss record to 3-1. The Lady Raiders found themselves down two sets to zero against Waterville Sept. 13, but came back to win the next three sets for the game. The Lake Roosevelt Raiders stuffed and mounted the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions 44-0 in Liberty Bell Friday. Highlights included QB Steven Flowers making a 30-yard run for the end zone in the first quarter, and throwing a 32-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tyrell Kiser in the second. The Lake Roosevelt cross country team competed in their first race of the season Sept. 13 in Bridgeport. In the 2.7 mile race, Raiders Kyle Edmo placed 29th out of about 70 runners, Cameron Tillman placed 38th, and Will Friedlander placed 41st. Only three of LR’s six runners had logged in enough practices at the time of the meet to qualify to run. The Lake Roosevelt Raiders girls’ soccer team is learning the sport from the ground up. The girls played their first game Sept. 8, losing to formidable Brewster, 11-0. Lake Roosevelt Raider Football players continued to be students of the game as NFL punter T.J. Conley and EWU Big Sky champion offensive lineman Cassidy Curtis came to their practice last Wednesday. The Raider football team showed a lot of promise on Saturday when they played Bridgeport in a pre-season “jamboree.” The Raiders scored three touchdowns, while only allowing one during the series of short scrimmages against Manson and Bridgeport.
