Lady Raider Volleyball split its matches last week. At home Oct. 7, Lake Roosevelt faced a Liberty Bell team they had defeated back in September, but the rematch turned into a Mt. Lion victory 3 games to 1. “It was disappointing to lose to LB in three games,” Head Coach Nate Piturachsatit said. “We beat them in four our prior match, and then to lose so convincingly is difficult to take.” Kammi Rosenbaum served up six aces against the Mt. Lions. Sean Garvin served two aces of her own and served with 79 percent success. Jocelyn Moore chipped... Full story

"This was a total team effort as each runner on the team makes an equal contribution to our team's success." Cascade, a 1A Leavenworth high school, finished first with five runners finishing in the top 10. Coach Darnold explains the scoring system: "Cross Country is a sport wh... Full story
In the first meeting between the Raiders and the Mabton Vikings, the Vikings came out the victors. Mabton defeated LR 32-0. “Mabton was clearly the more physical team tonight,” Head Coach Steve Files said. “We are capable of playing better, and we’ll have to if we want to be competitive in our division.” In the first quarter both teams’ defenses held, firm with Jacob Palmer recording two sacks for the Raiders. The Mabton defensive line was able to disrupt the Raider offense with their penetration of the Raider offensive line. The score was tied... Full story

Looking ahead to the last half of the season, Head Coach Nate Piturachsatit wants the team to keep building on the positives. Lake Roosevelt dropped its Central Washington 2B South opener at Warden Oct. 3 by the score of 38-7. The loss puts the Raiders at a 1-3 overall win-loss record and 0-1 in CWL 2B South play. The Cougars, said Raider Head Coach Steve Files, are “ a good ball club and made very few mistakes and capitalized on most of ours.” LR’s only touchdown came on the first drive of the game from an Austin Rosenbaum to Jacob Palmer connection for 35 yards. Octavio Alejandre’s extra point was good. Files praised the LR defense. “Our defense played well for... Full story

The tennis courts are being completely redone at Lake Roosevelt High School. The project started this last week and they will be finished in time for spring play. The courts were so badly cracked that most of the tennis matches had been moved to the Coulee Dam town courts near the old swimming pool in Cole Park. For $246,000, the district will get state-of-the-art courts built with “post-tension” concrete with an acrylic overlay. The courts will be blue, with a green area surroundiing them . — Roger S. In front of a sparse home crowd on Sept. 26, the Raiders won their first game of the season, holding off the Bridgeport Mustangs, 21-20. “Great team win for the Raiders,” Raider Head Coach Steve Files said. “We were tough, resilient, and opportunistic out there.” The Raiders saw a great improvement in the play up front with the return of senior Octavio Alejandre to the offensive line. The improved line play helped Jesse Louie and Oscar Pakootas to solid runs on the first offensive drive that was capped with a Josiah Desautel 17-yard touchdo... Full story

The Lady Raiders lost both their volleyball matches last week to Manson and Tonasket. Both losses were in four games, 3-1. The loss to Bridgeport Sept. 18 put the Lady Raiders on a three-match losing streak. “It’s time for us to regroup and evaluate what is working and what isn’t and make some changes,” Head Coach Nate Piturachsatit said, still confident the team can pull out of the slump. “I’m excited to see how the girls overcome our current situation and move ahead to the level of volleyba... Instead, the Raider cross country team started at Bridgeport Sept. 16 with a 2.2-mile race. The Bridgeport Invite featured all Central Washington B schools, and was a good early season gauge of how the Raiders stack up to league competition. "This was our first two races of the season, and for this being early in the season all performed well, giving their team their best efforts,"... Full story

It was a fun game.” The Lady Raiders won the match in four games, 25-23, 25-10, 22-25, 25-21. The Raiders faced, but fell to, the Eagles in Soap Lake last Friday in a non-league football game. LR was unsuccessful in bringing home the first win of 2014 as Soap Lake defeated the Raiders, 26-12. “We had our moments, but for the most part didn’t play as well as we are capable,” Raider Head Coach Steve Files commented. LR had some good moments in the game. Josiah Desautel scored a touchdown on a 45-yard run. And Nathaniel Hall, back from an injury sustained last week against the Tigers, scored the other Raider touchdown on a 71-yard rush.... Full story

Lady Raider Volleyball had a successful travel week, beating both Liberty Bell and Soap Lake. “We have been working hard on the mental game of volleyball, playing through adversity, and they have done exactly that,” Head Coach Nate Piturachsatit said on how the Lady Raiders found ways to win their matches. In the Central Washington 2B North League opener Sept. 11 at Liberty Bell, the Lady Raiders on more than one occasion found themselves behind the Mt. Lions but dug deep and came back to win. LR Football opened their 2014 season Friday night at home against the 0-1 Tonasket Tigers, as some Raiders had to step up to fill starting roles because of ineligibility or injuries.
