Officials at Lake Roosevelt Elementary are trying to figure out why one of the first-grade classrooms picks up a sewer smell off and on. It happens in Kim Campbell’s first-grade room, and on occasion drives her and her 18 students across the hall into another classroom. Plumbers and other tradesmen are working to find the problem, crawling around checking pipe joints. Theories abound. None have proved positive. The smell doesn’t occur every day, nor at the same time each day that it happens. Usually, it doesn’t last over 20 minutes to half...

As a bonus, a Boy Scouts troop set up a booth and gained several interested youth. Cub scouts seemed to...

The public is in for some surprises when they tour the new school complex in Coulee Dam this Friday: - Polished concrete floors sparkle and give off a sense of expensive treatment. Workers have ground square borders in areas to resemble tiles. - Rooms in the elementary wing have colored canopies over the doors, which match colors inside the room, so younger students can find their classrooms. - Outside each classroom, a small panel gives the teacher’s name and where they went to college. - Every classroom has a great view of the o...

Those costs will be reimbursed from state fire fighting funds, along...
