He grew up in the Grand Coulee area and graduated from Lake Roosevelt High School in 2004. After graduation, he moved to Oregon to join a friend, which started a life-long love affair with Oregon. On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, Cheryl passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at Coulee Medical Center. He grew up on a ranch east of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served 40 days in combat during World War II and earned a Purple Heart.
