Dorothy (Dot) Snyder went for her last ride on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, to join her husband of 50 years Ed. Dot was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Feb. 8, 1933. She moved to Republic as a young girl to live with her granddad Dayton. She met Ed in 1954 and they married shortly after. In 1958 the sawmill brought them to Grand Coulee where they spent their remaining years. Mamoru, who began his earthly journey March 7, 1992, in Honolulu, Hawaii, attended high school in Wilbur, Wash.. where he was a member of the Wilbur Wildcats football and basketball teams, before attending Salish Kootenai College in Nespelem, Wash. Vera L. Hardung, a long-time resident of Mesquite, Nev., passed away at home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. She was born on April 21, 1920, in Leigh, Neb., to William and Marie Ehlers. She was married for 56 years to Lavene H. Hardung who preceded her in death. Together they had three children. Raised on a cattle and wheat ranch in Eastern Washington, Vera learned the value of hard work, a love of land and the outdoors. One of her life goals was to own her own ranch. Dean Randolph Jess passed away Friday, July 5, 2013. He was born March 15, 1971, and raised on a wheat and cattle ranch in the Grand Coulee area. Dean went to school and graduated from Lake Roosevelt High School in 1990. While at school, he participated in VICA in which he placed 1st in state and 13th in nationals in a small engine contest, also he enjoyed football and wrestling. Elizabeth (Betty) Green, 94, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013. Daughter of August and Mary Bauer, she spent part of childhood in the Colville and Spokane area. When her parents came home to take over the family farm south of Wilbur, Betty attended and graduated from Wilbur High School. She married Irvin Green in 1938 and the couple moved to a cattle ranch 10 miles east of Nespelem, Wash., where they raised registered and commercial cattle for the next 42 years.
