Grand Coulee 10/8 - Police were called to the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School after a bomb threat note was found in a student’s book. The writing on the note matched the student’s handwriting. The student wouldn’t admit that he wrote the note. Officials at the school suspended the student for five days. 10/9 - USBR Plant Protection advised police that an employee drove recklessly as he approached the Station 3 guard shack. That’s one big pumpkin! Bill Niendam of Elmer City shows off what he calls his “300 pound pumpkin.” He and his wife Dusty raised a single pumpkin in their garden on Front Street. He said the pumpkin vine had a number of blooms but only one pumpkin. “We used a giant pumpkin seed for this one,” he said. Grand Coulee Police 9/30 - A Keller woman was pulled over for not using her directional signals while turning and the officer found that her driver’s license and registration had expired. She was cited on both counts. - USBR Plant Protection advised police that a delivery truck had set an oil can next to the gate shack. GRAND COULEE 9/18 - A man told police that a spotting scope valued at over $400 was taken from the back seat of his pickup while he had it parked at a business in Electric City for repair. - Police checked on a report of a threat in Electric City over a person’s personal effects that had been placed in a storage unit by someone else. The Care and Share Food Bank needs some help. Manager Fern Blaylock said Monday that after that evening’s deliveries the food bank shelves will be nearly empty. Blaylock said that the truck delivery that was received will be gone by Monday night, and the next delivery won’t be for a week and a half. The food bank is open Mondays at the Church of the Nazarene and is currently assisting some 100-130 families. Grand Coulee Police 9/8 - Five juveniles may be in trouble after allegedly driving around Division Street shooting a paintball rifle at deer and at one house. Police stopped the vehicle with five juveniles inside. The driver had an expired learner’s permit and no identification on him. Police told the five that they face charges of malicious mischief and sent the report to the prosecutor’s office. Grand Coulee Police 9/2 - Police responded to a report of gunshots on Kruk Road near the golf course. The officers found two Tacoma men bird hunting. Grand Coulee Police 8/27 - A woman told police that a man about 18 years old and riding a kid’s bicycle stopped to ask her if she had recently had a death in the family. The incident occurred when she was walking home to Jackson Street in Electric City after being at a bar.
