  • Village Cinema resetting operations

    Larry Hernandez|Oct 29, 2025

Village Cinema is officially resetting its operations as the Village Cinema Performance, Events & Recreation Center, expanding what we do and how we serve our community. This next chapter opens the door for more than just movies. We’re building a creative, flexible space for performances, events, recreation, and community gatherings and all under one roof. This change allows us to bring even more diverse programming to the area while maintaining compliance with our updated public performance licensing. You’ll continue to see free and aff...

  • Big news for our community

    Larry Hernandez|Oct 22, 2025

I’m proud to share that the 501(c)(3) paperwork came in and officially established the Village Cinema Foundation, a nonprofit I started to help preserve and improve the historic Village Cinema building in Coulee Dam. The Foundation’s focus is preservation, restoration, and capital improvements as a gift to the Town of Coulee Dam and the surrounding communities. Small towns like ours don’t always have the resources for major projects, so I’m working to bring in grants and outside support at no cost to local taxpayers. My first priority is the...

  • Cinema to offer new listening option

    Larry Hernandez|Jul 30, 2025

When I brought Village Cinema back to life, my goal wasn’t just to reopen a theater... it was to build something this town could be proud of, and something that included everyone. It’s easy, discreet, and free. Just connect to our Wi-Fi, open the AudioFetch app, and you’ll hear the movie in real time. Loud and clear, ri...

  • Why our 20-year reunion matters more than ever

    Larry Hernandez|Jul 9, 2025

It’s been 20 years since the Lake Roosevelt High School Class of 2005 crossed that stage. Many of us moved away, started families, and built new chapters. But one thing hasn’t changed: the bonds we formed here. That’s why we’re inviting all LRHS alumni to join us on July 19 at Village Cinema for a relaxed evening with trivia, arcade games, free popcorn and soda, and a classic movie that takes us back to those carefree days. For those who want to catch up beforehand, Rio Grande is offering dinner specials for reunion attendees. BOGO 1/2 price i...

  • Fired up for a new generation at movies

    Larry Hernandez|Oct 16, 2024

After being closed for 11 years, Village Cinema is making a comeback, stirring up fond memories and sparking excitement among community members. This past weekend, during the saʔtitkʷ (River) Artist Celebration, we offered special pre-renovation theater tours, and I witnessed a touching moment that speaks volumes about the community’s connection to the theater. James and Cassandra, both in their early 20s, were volunteering to help move old seat parts when they stumbled upon a nostalgic memory. As we worked, I pointed out that while there isn...
