June 10, 1942, the small Czechoslovakia village of Lidice was completely destroyed and most all its inhabitants killed. There was a growing anti-Fascist movement in Czechoslovakia. On May 27, 1942, SS Obergruppenfuher Reinhard Heydrich’s vehicle was attacked by anti-Fascists, wounding him. He succumbed to his wounds within a week.
