Grand Coulee Police
5/1 - Police spoke to three juveniles on Wetzel Street who had been wearing masks, going onto people’s properties, knocking on doors and running. Police explained how dangerous that can be to themselves, especially while wearing masks, and not to do it anymore. The juveniles said they wouldn’t do it anymore.
- Police used AI to estimate the cost to repair damage to a 2025 Toyota Camry with two dents in it after being parked at Safeway. The costs of repairs were estimated to be between $555-$1,620. Security footage could help determine if the other driver was aware they had struck the vehicle, which would be a criminal offense.
5/7 - Police went to the post office after receiving a report of a male possibly intoxicated and possibly having a mental health issue. Police saw the person in question sitting on the sidewalk, smiling and seeming to enjoy his day. No crime was being committed so police chose not to engage with him.
5/8 - Police went to the city park after receiving a report of parents being at the park while possibly intoxicated. Police saw parents sitting with refreshments ready for the children who were playing and saw no signs of over-intoxication that could impair their ability to parent responsibly.
- Police saw a vehicle reported to be possibly driven by an intoxicated person leaving the rodeo grounds towards Grand Coulee. The officer didn’t see any signs of intoxication from observing the vehicle be driven and cleared the call.
- Police checked on two people sleeping in a vehicle parked at the library. The person in the driver’s seat woke up and admitted to smoking fentanyl after the officer noticed a smoking device. The officer told the driver they shouldn’t be behind the wheel and they should call someone to help with their car which had a dead battery. They contacted someone who jumped the car and drove them to a safe location.
5/9 - Police spoke to a man who was having a mental health crisis during the local Colorama Parade. He had been yelling profanities at children watching the parade, and also claimed to be the President of the United States as well as God. He was warned not to cause a disturbance, especially with children, and that he could be issued a citation for disorderly conduct. He agreed to leave the area and walked toward Coulee Medical Center.
- Police went to the B Street area where a man was pushing a Safeway shopping cart. He said that he bought it from Safeway, but a Safeway manager explained they don’t do that and wished to press charges. The man with the cart was charged with theft. An officer told him how he could catch a bus to Moses Lake to then find a bus back to the Bellingham area where he is from. He had also said that he ended up in the Grand Coulee area in the first place after officers bought him a bus ticket.
- Two juveniles wearing cowboy hats were reported to have stolen beer and to have pushed over a store employee before running down Grand Coulee Avenue and possibly getting in a dark colored car. Police asked that security footage be emailed as soon as possible, and left to search for suspects.
Coulee Dam Police
5/4 - Police looked into a report of a security guard firing four rounds near the Grand Coulee Dam and learned that they were performing a training exercise.
5/5 - Police went to Kelso Avenue where a person was seen going in and out of a neighbor’s shed. The neighbor was contacted and said they would want to press charges and have the person banned from the property. Police saw the unsecured shed but no one was inside.
5/6 - Police pulled a man over for driving at night with his headlights off near SR-155 and Spokane Boulevard. He had had some beers prior to driving, and ultimately showed a breath alcohol content of about 0.15, above the 0.08 limit for driving.
5/9 - A woman who was on a walk with kids she was babysitting on Holly Street told police that two dogs got out of a fenced-in area and ran at her aggressively, and then towards two older people. No one had been bitten. Tribal animal control was told about the situation.
