Lady Raiders endure tough week against Warden, Cascade

The Lake Roosevelt Lady Raiders ran into a difficult stretch last week, falling on the road at Warden before splitting a Saturday doubleheader against a larger Cascade squad.

Lake Roosevelt opened the week Thursday with an 11-1 loss at Warden after their main pitcher broke two fingers catching a line drive. The Raiders were limited to five hits but saw a strong effort at the plate from Shae Crollard, who went a perfect 3-for-3. Cambry Brown and Zaley Laramie added hits, with Laramie driving in the team's lone run.

In the circle, Laramie worked four innings, allowing seven runs-three earned-while striking out three. Ashlyn Sam came on in relief for the final 1⅔ innings.

The Raiders bounced back Saturday in the opener against Cascade, erupting for a 15-5 win behind a powerful offensive showing. Lake Roosevelt racked up 20 hits, led by Ayamae Batten-Bob, who went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and four runs scored.

Sam turned in one of her strongest all-around games of the season, finishing 3-for-3 with five RBIs and four runs scored. Crollard stayed hot at the plate with three hits and three RBIs, while Taloulah Tonasket added three runs scored. The Raiders saw contributions throughout the lineup, with multiple players recording multi-hit games.

Sam also earned the win in the circle, going the distance while allowing five runs-just two earned-and striking out six.

Cascade answered in the second game, using a big second inning to pull away for a 27-7 win. Lake Roosevelt jumped out early with six runs in the first, but Cascade responded with a 16-run second inning to take control.

The Raiders finished with six hits in the nightcap, led by Phenyx Marchand with two hits and an RBI. Katelyn Manuel, Paisley Fury-Smith and Crollard also drove in runs.

Lake Roosevelt pitchers battled through control issues in the shortened game, issuing 18 walks as Cascade capitalized on scoring opportunities.
