Kachane Piturachsatit passed away February 15 at home surrounded by family. Born in Tha Lo, Thailand, to a poor family, Kachane came to Spokane in his 20s to pursue the American dream of opportunities. He first worked as a dishwasher at the Cathay Inn. In Spokane he met Cheryl Browning of Coulee Dam and they were married in May, 1973. Together they opened the Siam Palace in Grand Coulee in 1975. Over the years through hard work and dedication, Kachane built the restaurant into a local success which provided generously for family and many others. Kachane and Cheryl raised their 3 sons in Coulee Dam. Kachane enjoyed fishing, gardening, sharing his cooking and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Kachane is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his 3 sons, Nate, Jeff (Elizabeth), and Mark; his grandchildren, Anya, Camryn (Alycia), Maeha (Duke), Aehsley, Emry, Tru, Emmaline, Gideon, Ezra, Malayla and Callaway; his brothers and their families in America, Somchai (Jamsri), Suvicharn (Debbie); his nephew and his family in America, Ban (Julie); and other brothers and their families in Thailand. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Noi and other family in Thailand.
A celebration of Kachane's life will be held at the Coulee Dam Community Church on March 28th at 11am. A light reception will follow. In lieu of flowers or donations, please donate to the Grand Coulee Care and Share Food Bank, PO Box 671, Grand Coulee.
