Updated: Evac dropped for McGinnis Lake

Update 7 p.m.: Mt. Tolman confirmed that the evacuation level 2 has been dropped for McGinnis Lake.

Online sources are still calling it an active fire, however, with no containment percentage stated.

McGinnis Lake residents are advise to be ready to go on a moment’s notice as Mt. Tolman Fire Agency issued a Level 2 Evacuation notice.

The Buffalo Lake Boat Launch Fire that started about 3 p.m. has grown from an initially reported 4 acres to 75 as of 5:50 pm, July 7.

The Level 2 notice was issued just before 5 p.m.

The notice read:

“Level 2 Be Ready to Evacuate has been issued for a fire burning in the area of McGinnis Lake, Elmer City, WA.

Date 07-07-2025. Current Time 04:57 PM.

Level 2 Be Ready to Evacuate issued by Mt Tolman for fire burning south of Buffalo Lake on the Colville Indian Reservation.

Persons should be aware of their surroundings and take action if needed.

If you feel unsafe, leave now.

Be cautious of emergency vehicles responding.

This is a Level 2, Be Ready to Evacuate.

Remember People, Pets, Prescriptions, Papers, Personal Needs, and Priceless Items

Do not wait for door to door notification, take action if needed.

This may be your only notice, be ready to evacuate.

Emergency Management will be monitoring the situation and will update as needed.

Again this is a Level 2 Be Ready to Evacuate for a fire burning in the area of McGinnis Lake, Elmer City, WA
