Grand Coulee Police

9/11 - A squatter in a Main Street apartment was allowed to leave without any incident. The owner didn’t wish to press charges as long as she left. 

9/12 - A license plate was found at the hardware store and returned to the registered owner.

- Someone reported that a dog inside a car at a gas station at Four Corners was gasping for air. The vehicle was gone once police arrived. Police noted the temperature as being 78 degrees at the time.

9/14 - A generator, VCR, and airsoft gun were reported missing from a camper on Roosevelt Drive that a man had let two people stay in. The items totalled an estimated $750 in value. The man wasn’t very concerned about the items; however, he wanted the people banned from his property.

- Police investigated a report of two suspicious people opening doors at a Roosevelt Drive residence where no one was supposed to be, but learned from the homeowner that it was her husband and nephew who had been at the residence. 

- Police spoke to a man at a Chevron gas station who had been reported as possibly driving under the influence. The man said he had had a drink earlier and police said that if he was intoxicated he shouldn’t drive. Police noted that he didn’t seem intoxicated, but he chose to leave on foot and leave the car parked at the gas station for a while. The car had been moved later on.

9/17 - Police responded to a report of a man yelling and a child crying on Bowen Street. A man explained that he had told his kids who were playing outside to come inside. There was nothing amiss.

- Police checked on a Grand Coulee Avenue woman at the behest of her father. The woman was fine, just tired from her job wildland firefighting.

Coulee Dam Police

9/10 - A man was taken to Okanogan County Jail and charged with attempted assault, trespassing, malicious mischief and disorderly conduct following an incident on Holly Street in Coulee Dam. The man had been seen throwing rocks at dogs which caused the dog owner and her sister to go outside and round up the dogs. The man was reportedly aggressive towards them. One of the women grabbed pepper spray from inside and told the man to leave the property, at which point the man charged towards them, prompting one of the women to spray him with pepper spray. The man also urinated on a cooler in the yard. A Grand Coulee officer and tribal officer assisted in the situation by helping pour water on the man’s face because of his being sprayed with pepper spray.

9/11 - A man asked for a pack of cigarettes, Marlboro Smooths, from the gas station in Coulee Dam. When the cashier placed the cigarettes on the counter, he grabbed them and went to his vehicle parked at another location. The cigarettes were valued at $11.62.

9/12 - A man was reported as being at a Tulip Street residence with a woman who has a no-contact order against the man. The man had left the residence in a vehicle, and a Grand Coulee officer saw a vehicle matching the description pass by a gas station on SR-174 in Grand Coulee. The man was pulled over, detained and found to be wanted on multiple arrest warrants. He was ultimately transferred to a Coulee Dam officer who took him to Okanogan County Jail for the order violation. The vehicle he had been driving belonged to the protected person in the restraining order and was retrieved by her. 

9/17 - Police pulled a vehicle over near Spokane Boulevard and SR-155 for having defective brake lights. The man allegedly gave a fake name to the officer, and when the officer learned this, the man said he did so because he has a suspended license, something he’s been cited for before. Because of being a repeat offender, the officer decided to have the man’s vehicle towed. He was cited for driving without a proper license, providing a false statement, and for driving without an ignition interlock device. 

- A vehicle with an expired registration was pulled over on Central Drive. Police noted alcohol containers in the vehicle, including empty ones, and signs of impairment in the driver. The driver said she had consumed Fireball whiskey while watching the Seahawks game, but felt that she wasn’t over the legal limit. A breathalyzer sample, however, showed a blood alcohol content of 0.193, over the 0.08 limit. She was cited for driving under the influence. Someone picked her up from the police station.
