Kids from all over the area took part in the annual Koulee Kids Fest Saturday, organized by the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce and supported by businesses and organizations. About 17 of them put on little activities for kids from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., when the day capped off with a learning opportunity as The Reptile Man taught and entertained kids with live snakes, an alligator, and other reptiles.

At least two activity sponsors offered prizes in drawings. Kids who filled in a "passport" stamped by the various activity spots had a shot at winning a Nintendo Switch from the chamber.

Executive Director Kaitlyne Winebar said 7-year-old Grace Turner, of Coulee Dam, won it, chosen randomly from among the 145 kids who turned in their passports. Logan Dobson won a new bike and helmet from Coulee Medical Center.

She said Coulee Hardware reported 156 kids stopped by the store to take part in their activity.

From drawing chalk pictures in front of Loepp Furniture to paddle boating at Coulee Playland or cracking geodes at the senior center, children and their adults took advantage of mostly blue skies and warm weather all during the day.
