The sudden death of a community member and coach shook the school district Monday where his wife teaches and many of the community’s youth have benefited from his guidance.

“With a heavy heart I need to inform you of a tragic accident that occurred last Friday afternoon,” wrote Grand Coulee Dam School District Superintendent Paul Turner. “ Coach Bubba Egbert (first grade teacher, Mrs. Egbert’s husband) lost his life in a horse accident on their ranch.

“Bubba’s sudden death is a reminder of how precious and sometimes short life can be. He was a true Raider and his death will have a great impact on not only his immediate family, but extended Raider family as well.

“The impact on students and staff was deeply felt this morning and is expected to continue over the next few weeks. We have secured additional counselors at the school for any students and staff that may need their assistance.

“On behalf of all staff and students of Lake Roosevelt, we pray for comfort for Mrs. Egbert and family as they work through this tragic time.”
