Police

4/12 - A man was cited for having an expired registration, driving without insurance, and driving without a license after being pulled over near Midway Avenue and Federal Way for having expired tabs. He said he would walk home and have a licensed driver come get the car as he was not allowed to drive it following the stop.

4/13 - A suspicious man tried to sell a large hammer and drill bits to an employee at Coulee Hardware. Police were able to identify the man and told him he was banned from the hardware store after locating him at a nearby gas station. The same man was also seen that day leaving a shed at an unoccupied residence on Burdin Boulevard. The reporting party believed he might be staying in the shed.

4/14 - The owner of a vehicle that had been abandoned at CR Lumber came to move his vehicle after an employee reported it to police.

- Police pulled over a driver, recognized by police as having a suspended license, in the area of Spokane Way and SR-155. The driver said she wasn’t aware she had a suspended license and wasn’t getting mail at her registered address any longer. Police were called away from the stop to respond to an alarm at another location. The woman will still be cited for driving without a license.

- Police went to Banks Avenue where an alarm had been activated. It turned out a man had accidentally tripped the alarm while checking on the residence for his grandfather.

4/15 - Police told a man and woman on Roosevelt Drive that someone reported people smoking marijuana in their yard. The pair said it was most likely them and they were surprised law enforcement was called. Police told them it was unlawful to smoke marijuana in public view. They said they would use it out of public view in the future.

- Police pulled a vehicle over on Main Street for having a registration that expired in 2005 and for speeding. Coulee Dam officers also arrived. After some argument with a woman, the vehicle was towed. As she attempted to interfere with the process, she is being cited for resisting arrest, failure to obey a law officer, and obstruction.

- A Burdin Boulevard resident reported someone tried to use the doorknob to her home to try to enter it. Police searched the area but didn’t see anyone.

- A fanny pack was found by a custodian at restrooms at North Dam Park. Inside was what appeared to be meth and a fentanyl pill, as well as other assorted drug paraphernalia such as baggies, a grinder, a lighter, and more. Police attempted to contact a person identified on a casino card, but learned that person had died recently.

4/17 - Police checked on the well-being of a woman on Second Street whom people hadn’t heard from in about a week. The woman was fine.

- Grand Coulee and Coulee Dam police responded to the area of the casino and Coulee House Motel, where someone was reported to be overdosing and not breathing. The person recovered and was able to get up and walk around, and a medical team was not needed. The person was told they were trespassing and to vacate the area.

4/9 - A group of juvenile boys reported to police that while near the shooting range area of Osborn Bay, one boy’s truck overheated. As they poured water into the radiator, a couple men approached them. One of the men told them they needed to get out of the area or he was going to shoot up their vehicles. The boys said he appeared to be holding a rifle. Police went to a nearby resident’s home. The man matched the description given by the boys. He said he confronted the boys about spinning donuts in the area, but that was all that happened, and that he didn’t have his rifle with him. Police determined there was probable cause to charge the man with harassment.

- Police waited, until a medical team arrived, with a Park Avenue woman who complained about chest pain.

4/10 - Police pulled a car over near Columbia Avenue and Spokane Boulevard because the view of a temporary registration was obstructed. They found that a passenger was listed as a missing person. She said she’d tried to contact Okanogan County about the matter. Police told the dispatcher that the woman was not missing and appeared to be doing well.

4/11 - Police saw a boy with a driver’s permit driving to school without a licensed driver of at least five years’ experience with him, as required by the permit. Police contacted the boy’s mother who explained he was going to be late for school. Police told her that she still shouldn’t have let him drive when he isn’t supposed to. He is being cited for violating the permit’s conditions.

4/13 - A Coulee Boulevard man told police his internet was out at his home and so his security cameras weren’t working. Police said there was nothing they could do about his internet not working. The man said he wanted police to know about the outage.

- A door handle was broken on an excavator being used for street work on 6th Street. A prowler is suspected to have broken the handle after trying to open the locked door. A resident will check surveillance footage to see if their camera captured the incident.

- Police stopped traffic on SR-155 near River Drive and Birch Street while city workers cleared a plugged sewer line in the area. It took about 15 minutes to clear the line.

- A suspicious vehicle was reported as being parked in a no-parking zone near city hall. Police found the vehicle in a pullover spot near the Grand Coulee Dam. The driver explained the car kept dying, so he had to keep stopping. The driver was able to start the car and continue on his way.
