School bus goes in ditch

A school bus returning kids to home after sports and afterschool activities Thursday ran off the road in Electric City. No one was seriously injured.

“No serious or major injuries were reported,” the school district stated in a noted about the incident posted on its website. “However, there were some minor bumps and scrapes.”

The students were either picked up by families or were taken home on another bus.

The accident happened at 5:49 p.m. as the bus was headed south on SR 155 at Kent Street. The driver had realized he turned south, the wrong way, onto the main road through Electric City. To turn around, he was making a left turn but missed, he told a Coulee Dam Police officer who responded to the scene.

“We are proud of our students who remained calm during this situation and looked after each other,” the school note to parents and guardians stated. “Thank you to the adults that showed up on scene to help with the situation.”
