Police

2/7 - Police searched Burdin Boulevard but didn’t see anyone matching the description of two men who were reportedly up to no good and “casing” the neighborhood.

- Multiple tenants at an apartment building have complained about drug activity at a particular apartment, including weird smells and people coming in and out of it and putting things in their pocket. Police explained that they would need to establish probable cause by catching people selling drugs and not simply having possession in order to do something about it. The landlord is also aware of the complaints. The police report doesn’t note which apartments the complaint is from.

- After reviewing security footage from Coulee Gas, police determined that a woman was at fault for a traffic accident after she drove through a yield sign and her Buick Lucerne was struck by a Toyota Avalon. She was cited for entering the yield intersection.

2/8 -2/11 - A man was banned from a Hill Avenue residence after throwing rocks at an ex-girlfriend’s door, being told he was banned from the property, and then returning later. A restraining order was put in place. Then on 2/11 he admitted to walking near the apartment, saying he was carrying water from Safeway to his own nearby residence and walked on the opposite side of the street to maintain distance. He isn’t allowed to be within 1,000 feet of the residence; however, he was approximately 100 feet away from it. Police began to arrest him, and he fled down a steep hillside. He fell as he went down the hill, and police went to Eden Harbor Road to attempt to locate him on the hillside. Another officer and Grant County deputies assisted in locating him, spotting him near Eden Harbor Road from their vantage point at Pole Park. Police arrested him at Eden Harbor Road and Bowen Street. He allegedly resisted being arrested, and reportedly hit his head intentionally on the car and on the barrier inside the car, causing his head to bleed. He was treated at the hospital before being taken to Grant County Jail by a county deputy.

- A driver was pulled over on Midway Avenue for his taillights not working. The man said he was having trouble with the lights. He also admitted to being wanted on warrants out of Okanogan County, including a felony warrant. In the end, he was cited for driving without insurance and for the taillights. The jail wouldn’t confirm the warrants, the police report explains, unless the man was being a public nuisance, so he didn’t have to go to jail that day.

2/9 - A man wanted on a felony warrant out of Lincoln County was located at the Coulee Dam Casino. After being unable to contact Coulee Dam Police, Grand Coulee officers chose to arrest him. He was taken to Lincoln County Jail for the warrant for first-degree malicious mischief.

- An Elmer City man faces charges of malicious mischief, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, and harassment after an incident on Continental Heights. The man had been arguing with his mother, then allegedly raised his fist toward his mother and aunt, saying he would hit them, and kicked a phone out of the aunt’s hands when she was trying to call the police. The two women and the man’s sister, who also lives with them, all want restraining orders against him.

2/11 - An Anacortes, WA man was relieved to learn his wallet had been found along SR-174 by a bicyclist who turned it into police. The man had lost the wallet last summer, believing someone stole it out of his boat while he was camping. He had canceled his cards at the time. Police believe the wallet could have been thrown out of the vehicle after thieves took what they wanted. The wallet had the man’s driver’s license. The $100 he believed he had in there was gone.

- Police responded to a Burdin Street alarm and determined there had been no forced entry into the marijuana store there. The doors were secure and locked. Coulee Dam Police also responded.

2/12 - A man was reported as suspicious after staring at people in the Safeway parking lot before leaving in a Kia. He was gone before police arrived.

2/13 - A Grand Coulee woman believes her phone was “cloned” as another phone number was attached to it, as well as other devices and files stored on it that she didn’t recognize. Her phone was showing that it was in Davenport, although she had it with her in Grand Coulee. The phone number traced to Ecuador. Police told her not to open the files or connect the device to a computer because they could be harmful malware. Police also told her to change passwords of accounts and to talk with her phone company to resolve the issue further, perhaps needing to get a new phone.

2/9 - A white pickup was reported as suspicious for stopping by houses on Birch Street, the driver not getting out, then driving down a nearby alleyway. Police didn’t see the vehicle in the area.

- A school bus driver told police that while attempting to turn a school bus around at the intersection of Kent Street and Coulee Boulevard that the turn didn’t work out and the bus went into the ditch. The children told police they were all OK and were allowed to leave. The bus driver was also fine, showed no signs of intoxication, and was wearing his required prescription glasses. Washington State Patrol arrived to finish handling the case. A heavy tow truck was requested for the bus. Police also checked on a girl walking near the bar. She said she had been in the accident and was walking to get some groceries. She had a limp, but said she’d been injured in the gym earlier, not from the accident. Police allowed her friend’s mother to drive her to her own home.

2/12 - A woman used a rake to break a window at a Third Street residence in Electric City from which a man said he has been working to get her removed for months. He even changed the locks, which is why her key didn’t work. She said she wanted to get her dog. The dog was in a nearby truck. She also admitted to using the drug Fentanyl. She was arrested for malicious mischief and domestic violence as she had previously been in a dating relationship with the man and had lived there. She was taken to Grant County Jail.

- Police responded to a 911 hang-up call on Park Avenue. A woman who has trouble hearing told police she wasn’t sure if her phone was working. Police confirmed that her phone was working and that 911 would still work properly.
