Vitalant is currently facing a nationwide shortage of collection supplies for Power Red (double red cell) donations. This shortage is causing challenges for accommodating donors who desire to give this important type of donation at your mobile blood drive. In response to this collection supply issue, Vitalant is taking the following actions:

1. All open Power Red appointment slots at your blood drive will be removed and replaced with whole blood slots.

2. Donors who currently have Power Red appointments at your blood drive will remain in a Power Red appointment slot but will be made aware via email that they may be asked to give whole blood if there is a Power Red collection supply issue that arises on the day of the blood drive.

Every single blood donation is critical right now as we face a SEVERE BLOOD SHORTAGE and a national shortage of Power Red collection supplies. Please encourage previous and new donors to schedule a whole blood appointment and donate at our upcoming blood drive!
