Grand Coulee

Police

1/3 - One catalytic converter was cut and stolen from a U-Haul truck parked near the hardware store, and the catalytic converter was cut but not taken from a second U-Haul.

- Police checked on a deer that had been hit by a car somewhere near the hospital. When approaching the deer, it was able to get away. Police decided it didn’t need to be put down since it was able to get away.

1/5 - A woman was banned from a Dill Avenue residence after an argument involving someone being allowed to use her car.

- Jail was more appealing than dealing with his girlfriend to a man in the Lakeview Terrace area who wanted to turn himself in, being wanted on a warrant out of Grant County for driving with a suspended license. The Grant County Jail, however, had booking restrictions, so he couldn’t turn himself in. Police saw him, highly intoxicated, walking on SR-174. Asked why he wanted to turn himself in, he said that he’d rather go to jail than deal with his girlfriend. She ended up giving him a ride home.

- Police were unable to find an injured deer that might have needed to be put down after being hit by a vehicle on SR-174.

1/6 - Police went to Cardinal Road where someone was concerned about a woman in a T-shirt possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police didn’t see her, but saw a man pushing a shopping cart down the road. He said he had seen a woman go to a residence. Police spoke to people at that residence and everyone was fine there.

1/7 - A suspicious person was reported as wearing black clothes and waving a walking stick in the Continental Heights area. Police spoke to a guy matching the description who had an ice scraper that could be mistaken for a walking stick. Police told him he was reported as suspicious. The man apologized and said he was leaving the area.
