Grand Coulee

Police

12/25 - Police responded to a Bay Area Drive home where the security alarm was going off. The homeowner was there and explained that he forgot the passcode for the alarm.

12/26 - Police went to Continental Heights where a woman had reported that a man was intoxicated and needed to be escorted away. When police arrived, she explained the man had already left as had another man whom he had been arguing with, wanting to fight him. Police weren’t able to find either of the men.

- Police were unable to find any evidence of a woman being shot near Cole Street and Dill Avenue. An anonymous caller reported a woman known to steal had been shot at and that she “got what she deserved.” Police spoke to several people in the area, only one who thought they had also heard a single gunshot coming from somewhere nearer Alcan Road. Police also saw no sign of blood in the snow, bullet casings, or any other sign of someone getting shot at. They arrived at the area just four minutes after receiving the report.

- A woman had permission to use a man’s car, but she said that when she returned to the man’s home, he became angry, and she left in his car. She was parked outside the police station, and the man and his son were there as well. The car was returned to the man.

12/28 - Police closed the open door of a vacant King Street residence after checking to make sure no one was inside.

- Police looked into a report of a gunshot being heard near Section Place and Spokane Boulevard. Police didn’t find anything out of the ordinary but noted that sometimes people shoot in an area between Delano Heights and Electric City.

- A storage shed on the outside of The Star newspaper had the lock hasp pried off; however, nothing was taken.

- Police spoke to an employee of a crisis hotline who told them a male was having grandiose delusions and had fled Coulee Medical Center. Police were able to contact the person, who was somewhere near Wilbur. Police gave advice to someone concerned about him and also relayed information to officers in Lincoln County, where the subject was at the time.

12/30 - Police spoke to a woman whom they were told to talk to by Adult Protective Services. The woman said she was fine, taken care of, and wasn’t worried. She was able to recall events from the past week. The woman said she appreciates the police checking on her to see how she is doing.

12/31 - An elderly woman wearing a robe and sandals showed up at a Linda Lane residence. She was allowed to come inside. Once police arrived, the woman declined medical assistance. Someone who knows her explained they were attempting to get her into an assisted living program due to her suffering from dementia. The woman was given a ride home.

- Reported shots fired near Section Place and Spokane Boulevard turned out to be fireworks.

- An officer saw an SUV driving with its lights off on SR-155, and also saw a silver wrapper fly out the window onto the road. Police followed the vehicle and the driver turned his lights on, realizing they were off. Once pulled over, he explained the wrapper was on the dashboard and flew out the window, an explanation the officer found plausible. He was warned about driving with lights off and littering, but cited for driving without a license and insurance.

1/2/23 - An animal rescue organization based in Oroville agreed to take dogs that were reported for a reason not clear in the police report. The family that owned the dogs was willing to give them to the organization.

- Police assisted in having a travel trailer with expired registration towed from Cardinal Road. A man wanted the trailer released to him. But he wasn’t the registered owner, and police explained only the registered owner could collect the vehicle.

Coulee Dam

Police

12/27 - A missing person was reported by a Camas Street woman. No other information provided in the police report.

12/30 - Police helped a man who lives in Montana check on his children who live in Coulee Dam. Their mother said that the kids were at their grandparent’s house somewhere between Coulee Dam and Nespelem, and that police could check on them the next day. The father said that was fine.

1/1/23 - A fireworks complaint came from someone on Holly Street at about 1:30 a.m.

- A report mentions assault as the nature of a call to Coulee Boulevard in Electric City at 2 a.m. but doesn’t provide any further detail.
