The Raiders hosted their annual Powerhouse Wrestling Tournament in Coulee Dam Dec. 22, bringing in competitors from as far away as Napavine, Washington and filling the Lake Roosevelt gym with over 100 athletes from 10 schools participating and finding out what they need to work on for the rest of the season. Three schools didn't make it because of the weather.

The Raider boys' team had 11 members place in eight of the 13 weight categories, coming in third as a team with a score of 154, behind Omak's 156 and Tonasket's winning 206.5.

Raider Rodger Cate took first place at the 113 weight category over Omak's Tameron Hall. Raiders Dillan Yazzie and Zacheriah Elwell took third and fourth respectively.

At 138, Julius Ferguson took second place; Julian Lopez took fourth. Christian Carson came in fourth at 145, and Teyten Flores took fourth at 152. John Desautel took fourth at 182.

At 195, Terek Bush took third place. Blake Chuckelnaskit took third at 220.

In the girls' competitions, Lake Roosevelt's team of five wrestlers placed in three weight categories. Arianna Waters took first at 155, and Phenyx Marchand took third. Ayamae Duclos took third at 145.

"Arianna Waters continues to be an impressive leader," said her coach, Justus Caudell. "In both practice and competitions, she works hard and pushes herself and her teammates. ... She has real potential to surprise some people this year."
