Grand Coulee

Police

9/15 - Police saw a stolen vehicle near King Avenue and Dill Street and told the occupants to put their hands outside the vehicle. They did so for a while, but then the driver put his hands back into the vehicle and sped off to the Delano area at a high rate of speed. Police followed, and eventually three people fled the vehicle. Coulee Dam police assisted in making sure the vehicle was unoccupied. A gun, knives, and a phone were among items taken. The phone gave police a clue as to who the suspects are, and security footage from someone in the area is helping police confirm who stole the vehicle.

9/16 - A driver was cited for failure to yield after he turned from an alleyway near Loepp Furniture and collided with another vehicle along Midway Avenue.

9/17 - Police spoke with a man around 70 years old on Weil Place, who allegedly urinated near trees near the softball fields at the middle school. The man was said by a witness to have been a fair distance away from children in the area. The man denied urinating in public there, but was told by police nonetheless to use a bathroom.

- A man was said to have been dragging his dog while walking it. Police saw the man walking his dog properly near Four Corners. He said he would never drag his dog.

9/18 - A man’s vehicle became disabled at a Chevron gas station on Grand Avenue, where a bystander helped but left his tools at the man’s vehicle and took his key with him. The bystander was later found on Alcan Road and gave the key back, saying he was unaware he had taken it and adding that he had abandoned his tools there on purpose. Police returned the key to the man at the gas station, and the tools to the bystander.

- A woman who lives along SR-174 reported that her husband stole their vehicle. They are both registered owners of the vehicle. The husband was at their residence once police arrived and said he had gone to the store for a drink. The woman said she had been concerned due to her medication being in the car.

- Police checked the elevator at Grand Coulee Manor on Continental Heights at the behest of Grant County Housing Authority to make sure it was functioning, as it is essential for some people there and had been disabled when the fire alarm was activated. The elevator was functioning, police found.

- Police arrested a man at Cardinal Road for assault after a woman claimed he’d strangled her during an argument. She showed injuries consistent with that assertion.

9/23 - Police dealt with a fecal matter in which a man was putting bags of his dog's poop in the nearest available trash can. The man said he is not supposed to be around fecal matter because of medical concerns. Police told him not to use anyone’s trash can he hasn’t spoken to about the matter.

- Two young males were said to be spinning “brodies” in a Center Street church parking lot. Police took photos of tire marks in the parking lot.

9/24 - Police determined it was the responsibility of Sunbanks Resort to recover a jetski someone had rented then run out of gas, leaving it stranded near Jones Bay.

Coulee Dam

Police

9/25 - Police went to River Drive where two people backing out of driveways on opposite sides of the street had not seen each other and collided. Police took photos and collected information from the incident. Both vehicles were still operable, although had some damage to doors on the vehicles.

9/20 - A Grand Coulee officer assisted tribal police when they saw two men enter the grocery store in Coulee Dam while it was closed, which was seen as suspicious. It turned out, the men were employed by the store and were just there cleaning.
