Dave Lindhag, formerly of Almira, has been offered a special trip to Washington, D.C. on Inland Northwest Honor Flight, his wife, Judy Lindhag said in an email to The Star, asking that people meet them on their return to the airport in Spokane.

“While there, Dave, and our son DJ (flying as his companion) will visit many memorials as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,” she said.

The two will return on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. to Spokane International Airport.

Family and friends of each participant in the flights designed to take Inland Northwest war veterans to Washington D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices are invited to welcome their arrival home, Judy said. “Please gather in the main terminal of the airport. There will be a large crowd all welcoming the veterans home by sharing their thanks and appreciation for their service. You are welcome to bring small flags or signs to wave if desired.

Although the welcome event will not be a surprise, Judy said, “Dave will be overwhelmed to see you all!”

Although Dave Lindhag was a Vietnam era veteran (four years active Air Force and two years in reserves), Judy Lindhag said, “it was a very thankless job at that time.”

She said anyone unable to join in is welcome to send a note to David Lindhag, 52052 Eagle View Lane, Ford, WA 99013.
