Police

7/19 - A woman was banned from a Goodfellow Avenue location where she had allegedly broken into an RV parked there where police found some of her belongings and drug-related items that they collected to be destroyed. The owner of the RV didn’t wish to press charges but noted an ongoing issue of having to kick people out of the property. A separate “camper trailer” on the property, owned by someone else, had also been broken into. Police were waiting to talk to the owner to learn if they wanted to press charges. Two days later, the camper trailer was reported as stolen from the property.

7/20 - A woman reported her EBT card stolen from a Kelso Avenue residence, last seeing it lying on the bed. The man there said it was last on the bed and that he didn’t take it, but if he found it he would return it to the woman. Police suggested the woman cancel that card and get a new one.

7/21 - Police and a Les Schwab employee helped a woman get a cat out of her vehicle on E Street. She had found a kitten and kept it in her vehicle overnight, and had trouble getting it out the next day as it had crawled behind plastic panels and behind the dashboard. The kitten was fine.

- Police responded to Crown Point to assist Coulee Dam Police on a report of a possible altercation involving upwards of 25 juvenile boys and young men. When police arrived, there were about a dozen boys and young men at the location with about five pickup trucks parked. They explained that one of their friends had spun his tires, kicking up dirt and rocks. The dirt and rocks reportedly went in the direction of an older couple parked there. This prompted another man to confront the boys, and they apologized to the older couple. The man who confronted them said the apology was “half-assed” leading to more confrontation. The boys were said to have approached his vehicle, circling him, prompting him to call police. No violence or threats occured. Some of the boys were said to have beer cans with them. The information was given to Douglas County officers who arrived later and took over the case.

7/22 - Police collected and destroyed a syringe found on Grand Avenue by city workers. It was filled with what appeared to be heroin.

- Police provided a case number at the request of a German man with a rental car in the Safeway parking lot. A child had opened an adjacent car’s door into the rental car, causing a small scratch. The man wanted the incident documented for the rental company.

- Police stopped a vehicle at a pullout above Grand Coulee Dam because someone reported the driver may be intoxicated before he left the hardware store. The man ended up being perfectly sober, providing a breath sample showing a 0.0 alcohol content reading. Police thanked him for his cooperation.

- Police responded to the beach at Spring Canyon, where a woman was reported as unconscious. EMS personnel were already treating the woman, who was conscious and breathing, and appeared intoxicated. Police eventually gave her and a man a ride home. The woman vomited in the back of the police car. After dropping them off, the officer cleaned out his car with cleaning supplies.

7/23 - An American Legion worker turned in a police officer shirt with Grand Coulee department badges sewn on it that he found in a box of other items. He was unsure when it was donated to the legion.

7/24 - Police collected and destroyed a purse full of drug items such as pipes and needles that was found by a Safeway employee at the store.

7/25 - Police spoke to people on Kent Street involved in an argument over cigarettes and a key fob. A woman got her key fob back, a cigarette was given to a man, and it’s possible the man had hit the body of the woman’s car with a baseball bat.

Coulee Dam

Police

7/17 - Police spoke to a tribal officer at the casino who had a woman in custody for residential burglary and vehicle prowling. Tribal police were unable to book her into their jail because of a lack of space for her there. The Coulee Dam officer confirmed that the woman was wanted on a separate arrest warrant, and took her to the Chelan County jail in Wenatchee. She is also being charged with not wearing her seatbelt for taking it off twice during transport to the jail.

7/18 - A damaged vehicle parked in a no parking zone was towed from the Harvest Foods area. The owner said her vehicle had been struck while parked at Harvest Foods; however, police reviewed security footage showing the woman pull the vehicle up near Harvest Foods already damaged, get out of the vehicle, appearing intoxicated, looking at the damage, eventually leaving it at the spot it was towed from.

- A woman on Spruce Street reported a neighbor’s dogs being aggressive and barking at her and her own dog while in her own yard. Police said they would talk to the neighbor.

7/19 - A utility worker went to the wrong address on Stevens Avenue, scaring the homeowner. The worker apologized then went to the right address.
