Update: This Friday's June 3 event has been moved to the inside of the former Center School on Spokane Way in Grand Coulee due to the rainy weather.

This Friday marks the first First Friday event for the Coulee, with vendors, food, and more to provide a fun time to start your weekend.

The first Friday of each month means shopping and entertainment from June through October in a new kind of event for the area.

This Friday, June 3, is the first of its kind, and future “First Fridays” will be held on July 1, Aug. 5, Sept 2, and Oct. 7.

Vendors and food will be at North Dam Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on those dates. And organizers hope that live music and drinks will be at the future events as it evolves in the coming months.

Morgan Tillman of Auntie’s Salon started the event in collaboration with the chamber and felt that having a nighttime event would be good to “beat the heat” and give people the opportunity to have fun and experience an outdoor form of shopping.

Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rachelle Baughman told The Star that there are 10 vendors lined up for the first First Friday, including food, crafts, candy and hair braiding from Auntie’s Salon, formerly Apothecary Salon.

Those interested in hosting their own booth at the events can contact Baughman at the chamber office at 509-633-3074, with the cost being only $15 to do so.
