There’s a lot of turnover this year at Lake Roosevelt Junior/Senior High School.

The Grand Coulee Dam School District board of directors accepted the resignations of Junior/Senior High Principal Sara Kennedy, Dean of Students Billy Monroe, and Athletic Director Tim Rasmussen, as well as math and drivers’ ed teacher Jeff Piturachsatit.

The school board got the news at their meeting May 23.

Although they didn’t discuss them publicly following a private executive session that preceded the acceptance of the resignations, Board Director Butch Stanger said earlier in the meeting that they should conduct exit interviews for the board to learn why people leave positions within the district.

Monroe previously told The Star that he has accepted the athletic director position in Tonasket, where he grew up and has family.

Rasmussen is taking on the athletic director position in Davenport and was quoted in the Davenport Times that he “felt it was a good fit for my family.”

Superintendent Paul Turner said later that the district already had applicants for the principal job and others and that he viewed the resignations as part of the normal end-of-year shuffle in education in general.

But he said he was worried about filling the district’s bus driver positions, which had already been proving hard to fill before the covid problems struck and now are more so.
